1790 Broadway,
New York City,
Sept. 13th, 1916.
My dear Mr. Marklan;
The Humanitarian Cult has organized a branch for the purpose of abolishing capitol punishment. Already some of the most notable men and women have joined the committee. On behalf of the 107,339 members I invite you to also serve on that Committee, which as soon as organized will elect its own Chairman and leaders. The facilities of the Humanitarian Cult will be put at the disposal of the Branch. There will be no membership dues and collections or contributions will not be permitted. We would also consider it a great privilege to have you address us at one of our meetings at Carnegie Hall, which will take place during the coming season as follows:-- Oct. 3rd, 17th and 31st; Nov. 14th and 28th; Dec. 12th; Jan. 2nd, 16th and 30th; Feb. 14th and 27th; March 13th and 27th; April 10th and 24th. The Humanitarian Cult magazine which is published free of charge to the masses goes to press in about a week. We have some very prominent writers who have contributed articles and it would be a special privilege to have you write a poem for us.
Kindly advise your pleasure in the premises,
Sincerely Yours,
Misha Appelbaum
Founder and Leader.
To Mr. Edwin Marklan,
Westerly Park,
West New Brighton, N.Y.
P.S.- I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Marklan at one of the dinners where I was a guest speaker.
