Willard, N.Y.
Atwell NY July 18/22
Dear Comrade Markham:-
Your splendid article and your gracious letter came just as I was about to leave for a few days (”between Sundays”) at my little Adirondack cottage. So I have had no opportunity to write and thank you before. I fairly gloated over the manuscript, as an editorial asset, to arrest the attention and provoke honest thinking among honest people. While as you say it is a trifle long, I will not cut it down, unless it is absolutely necessary to give some space to some other article that may merit insertion. In reading it over I noted that if this is necessary, I would omit the few pages that cover the ideal economic condition as covered by even material writers. That would retain your matchless review of the application of the teachings and principles of the Saviour. But I hope it will not be necessary to omit any. I held the sending in of the copy to printers a week, so as to have a promised one from Professor Sudder, who always writes very well. But I cannot tell how much I appreciate your letting me have the article, and I confidently hope that it will arrest the attention of a good many of the Episcopal deputies at our General Convention, who would not otherwise scarcely glance at the social preparation. And thus some good done for the Kingdom of God.
Sincerely
A.L. Byron-Curtiss
