H.M.S. Argonaut
British Pacific Fleet
C/O FPO SF CALIF
19 MARCH 1945
Dear "Prof" Stoughton:
Just recently a change of duty came my way quite unexpectedly while on an all to brief leave of twenty-one days. I did not get chance to get home on my leave but I do consider myself rather lucky in being able to see my wife on the West Coast. However, the fortunes of war are quite unpredictable so here I am once again in the Forward Area after having my "stateside" sojourn cuty very short.
At this time "Prof" I just want to give you my change of address and to let you know that my present duty is that of a U.S. Naval Communications Liaison officer with the British Pacific Fleet. As you can well imagine the duty is very

interesting both from a technical viewpoint and from a purely social aspect of serving with British officers and men. Incidentally my latest travels have taken me to Brisbane and Sydney in Australia and also for a brief visit to India - if this war continues much longer the Far East will be almost as familiar to me as our own Staten Island.
Sorry I must cease so abruptly -
Warmest Regards
Bob
P.S. my address is exactly as shown at the beginning of this letter
