Dear Prof,
It has been quite some time since I received your last letter, but I've been holding up my correspondence waiting for a somewhat permanent address. I've done quite a bit of traveling about the country since I last wrote from Pearl Harbor and have seen several of the old Wagner boys.
The one whose name was censored out in my last letter was Robt "Doc" '[Blieden?] ex '40 who is a two-striper and was commanding an LST - I think it was 128- He was then just taking on cargo for the Saipan invasion. He's held that rank for quite some time and was expecting to advance to Lieutenant Commander in the near future.
When I returned to San Francisco (an Ensign took over my boat and I was sent back for new construction) I met Jack Cooper in a hotel just as I was checking out. We had dinner together before my train pulled out and really enjoyed rehashing the old days. He is now a Navy chaplain (Lt. j.g.) and was on his way to Pearl Harbor. I'll soon discover if he's still there.
The third chance meeting was with Ens Ed Saul in Salomons Md. He was in training there and left shortly after as engineering officer on an LCI. Later on I met Carl Heilsberg [EM2/c?] and his new wife and George Stepankus. We really had a bull session - It was really good to get together again.
I wonder if I ever told you I'd received a letter from Bob Vogel (ex '38) He joined the Army even before conscription, is now a first Lt., married and is stationed at Fort Knox, Ky. He was expecting to become a father when I heard from him. Should be by now.

I've been carrying this poor excuse for a letter in my pocket for the past week, intending to re-write it - Somehow time got away from me, and now I've only a few free minutes before sailing, so I either mail this or nothing.
Hope to be able to get around to the hill on the next trip home - Best wishes for the new semester -
Sincerely
Ray Miller
