Dear Dr. Stoughton,
The nature of my letter is to beg a favor of you. Marshall has written that he has made an application for Officers Candidate School to become a 2nd Lieut. of the Air Force. He has all the requirements as far as his education is concerned and has passed all his army tests very high, and along with his application his Commanding Officer has suggested getting one or two letters from prominent men with whom he has been associated. I wondered if you would be so kind as to write one of these letters and would mention that Marshall had been Secretary and Treasurer of the Student-Body and also Secretary of his Fraternity and anything else which you feel you could say, the letter to be addressed to the Commanding Officer of the

2nd Photo Squadron of Geiger Field, Spokane, Wash. and enclosed is an envelope to Marshall as I do not know the Commander’s name.
