Dear Sir,
This letter is in appreciation for your sending me a letter of recommendation. I am indeed, very grateful. Am submitting my application for cadet training this week, and am sure that the letter will be very helpful in my request for this advanced training.
My life in the aircorps to date, has been very tiring and full. After graduation from Power turret school in Corado, I spent several weeks on various details. One day I then found myself on the way down here to Louisiana. My hours here have not been too severe, so I now find time to try for that cadet training. I certainly hope that everything comes out all right. As I shall see.
You may be interested to know that I have not given up my intentions to

finish college, and when the war is over, I intend to return, and finish my course so that I may become a minister. This army life has helped to give me new ideas. I have learned the power of settling down, and finishing a job, no matter what hindrances arrive. The only way we can really win this war is by doing just this.
Well, I rather imagine you have had quite a time trying to decipher my writing, so will close now. I will however, write again, and let you know how I make out.
Till next time then, I am,
Gratefully,
Pvt. K. Gordon Drescher
